PARALYMPIC gold medallist Eleanor Simmonds joined children from Upton Cross Primary School at the Eden Project recently to get creative and celebrate the first ever Green Britain Day with EDF Energy.

Together, they will create a giant tree installation, with the support of local artist Tom Barnecut, which will be covered in their 'green' pledges and footprints, revealing the actions they will take to make Britain greener.

Green Britain Day saw thousands of people across Britain commit to 'do something green for the team' by the time of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Dozens of schools across Cornwall, Devon and Somerset took part on the day, including Okehampton Primary School. Events ranged from green assemblies to creating giant

displays of children's and parents' green pledges.

To finish the day in style, the Eden Project hosted a spectacular Green Britain Day concert in support of the Prince's Rainforest Project, starring British music legend Paul Weller and the critically acclaimed Florence and the Machine. Preparations for the concert were well underway as the children from Upton Cross Primary School worked on their pledges.
