A DAMPENER could be put on Petersfield's Christmas spirit this winter after organisers of last year's festive lights switch-on event said they may have to disband.

The Association of Petersfield Businesses, the group behind last year's Star Wars-themed event, said at its annual meeting that the lack of involvement from the business community was "starkly evident".

A spokesman added that unless more businesses come forward, the group will disband, which could spell the end of the annual festive lights switch-on.
