A Bude-based ukulele band were proud to discover they had raised thousands of pounds in donations for an all important local charity.
The members of All@C Ukulele Band recently presented the cheque for £5,000, all raised through donations, to Cornwall Air Ambulance.
Representing the band, Lindsey Sandilands said: “All@C, the original Bude Ukulele Band, formed in 2016 as a retirement project for half a dozen old ladies who bought cheap yellow ukuleles on a whim in a local German supermarket, then didn’t know what to do with them.
“Self taught and now with a repertoire of over 200 songs, this little band of rocking pensioners now numbers around 30 and we play at functions all over Bude and beyond, sharing music and laughter and collecting money for the Air Ambulance.
“This is a charity very close to all our hearts in this area and we were so happy when our bucket rang up £5,000 just from donations, especially since — as one founder member said — we thought we were just having fun!”
