POLICE are appealing for information after two Forest homes were broken into on the same day.

A large amount of valuable jewellery was stolen at a house in Latchen, Longhope and Grove Road in Coleford on Tuesday, June 9 between 1pm and 11pm and 1pm and 5.15pm respectively.

The jewellery stolen was of significant sentimental value.

Among the jewellery stolen in Longhope were a gold wedding ring and a 9ct gold trilogy engagement ring. Other items included a 9ct gold St Christopher on a fine chain, five stone garnet ring in 18ct gold, 9ct gold ring with three small blue sapphires, 18ct gold cross and chain, 9ct gold shaped locket on a chain, gold hoop ear-rings, gold necklaces, an amethyst ring, a signet ring and gold bracelets.

In the incident at Coleford it's believed that the offender/s were disturbed and climbed over a garden gate to make their escape.

Their haul included a number of rings including a yellow gold ring with a dark aquamarine stone, a gold signet ring, a gold ring with four/five small diamonds, a gold plated Swarovski ring with stones in the shape of a flower and a silver plated daisy bracelet and charm bracelet. 

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said: "It's believed that these offences are linked and it's thought that they were committed during daylight.

"These items of jewellery are very precious to the owners – some have been inherited and can never be replaced and we are appealing for any information that will assist in the recovery of these items so they can be returned to their rightful owners.

"Crimes of this nature are particularly distressing and Gloucestershire Police is committed to reducing these offences, recovering the stolen property and catching and convicting those responsible.

"During longer summer days we appeal to people to be vigilant; to report any suspicious behaviour and to protect property by making sure it is securely locked and gives the appearance of being occupied wherever possible."
