THE clear-up operation continues in Bude after Storm Eunice, as the Triangle’s fallen tree was moved to a safe place on Monday, until a decision on its future has been made.
It took several hours to carefully lift the trunk, which was estimated to weigh 23 tonnes.
Bude-Stratton Town Council made the decision to keep the trunk and major limbs intact, following public interest in how the wood can be repurposed as a fitting tribute to the much-loved tree, which once dominated the centre of town.
The council is also asking the community to get in touch with their suggestions for the wood. It has already received more than 100 responses, with ideas ranging from benches for the Triangle, a totem pole and a covered performance area.
The public are asked to contact [email protected] with more ideas for how the wood can be utilised in the town.
