SO, it is all over. People have voted and I would like to thank those in the Lydbrook and Ruardean Ward for casting their vote supporting my husband.

He must have been doing somethings right, in spite of having been found guilty by other members and officers of the Forest of Dean District Council.

He was treated abominably and was reported to the Gloucestershire Police.

My whole family were living under a cloud for seven months, not knowing the outcome until he received a letter from the police clearing his name.

He has regained his district seat coming top of the poll for his area as a non-aligned Independent.

I am amazed at the audacity of Independent members ringing him to go back to the fold. Their self appointed leader telling him he wasn't interested in the past, to have a clean sheet and return to the party despite the fact he had supported the sanctions against Andrew.

Strangely he was told by an officer at the induction meeting the same thing. Do they not realise the seriousness of their actions?

My husband is still there and will continue to work for no sale of the Forest of Dean and be totally opposed to the development of the Northern Quarter.

What will they do to him in the coming months or will they have learnt anything during the last few years?

– Valerie Gardiner, Ruardean.
