A GROUP of Bovey Tracey residents opposed to selling off the town hall want the town council to suspend any sale and instead explore a Community Asset Transfer Option.
Town Hall for All maintains that if it is sold to a commercial interest, the community would no longer have any control over it and would not be able to use it.
The council announced in February that it was selling the 150-year-old building – it has controversial plans for a new building with committee rooms on the former Old Thatched Inn site in Station Road. The proposals do not include a large hall.
