A NORTH Cornwall town council has put a call out to residents to volunteer as part of its new Emergency Flood Plan.
Bude-Stratton Town Council is asking residents to come forward as part of their new plan, aiming to strengthen the town’s resilience, ensuring swift and effective responses to potential flooding.
Developed in partnership with Cornwall Community Flood Forum, the Emergency Flood Plan outlines key strategies, including identifying at-risk areas, coordinating evacuation centres, moving people to safety and mobilising supplies. Community Emergency Volunteers will play a vital role in supporting the council’s efforts by assisting before, during and after flood events.
Volunteers will receive full training and equipment, helping protect residents, homes and local infrastructure. Whether monitoring local flood triggers, sharing information, or offering direct support their contributions will be crucial in minimising the impact of floods on the community.
Ian Saltern, deputy town clerk, said: “We’re asking dedicated residents to join our team of volunteers. By becoming a Community Emergency Volunteer, you’ll help protect your neighbours and strengthen the resilience of Bude-Stratton as a whole.”
