A COMMUNITY open day in Bude has raised thousands of pounds for charity.

The event saw live music, raffles and tombola, food, a bar, and of course a chance to meet Blaze Bear - the station’s mascot. . As well as this, crew members prepared to get wet, as residents were invited to give their best shot while throwing wet sponges at Bude Fire Station team members.
The event coincided with the town’s annual Lifeboat Weekend, which also saw the masses turn out for a charitable cause.
The open day was in aid of three charities, the Fire Fighter’s Charity, Cornwall Air Ambulance’s Heli2 Appeal, and Bude Memory Cafe.
Following a day of fun in the sun, the Bude Fire team announced that a massive £3,225 was raised.
After the announcement, a spokesperson for Team 7.3 Bude said: “We're delighted to announce a grand total of £3,225 raised at our open day last weekend!
“We will be splitting this between The Fire Fighters Charity (£1,645), the Cornwall Air Ambulance #Heli2Appeal (£790) and the Bude Cornwall Memory Cafe Network (£790).
“As always, we'd like to say a huge thank you to all of you for your support.”
