I WISH to thank Ian Gower for his letter concerning people crossing at the traffic lights on the A48 trunk road to the Tesco store in Chepstow.
Myself and a friend, Mr Chris Wall, have been in contact with the chief executive officer of Tesco.
He arranged a meeting for me to see on-site the store manager and Tesco's maintenance engineer.
It was agreed that a new fence would be in place as the engineer had a work order to authorise a new high fence to be erected at once.
I am afraid to say that was well over two years ago.
We have both sent numerous letters to the head of Tesco without any satisfaction from them.
Tesco management have agreed that the fence is on their land.
The problem to stop people crossing at the traffic lights stays with them until a new fence is erected.
I would like to point out to Mr Gower that it is not the South Wales Trunk Road Agency's responsibility to erect the fence as it is on Tesco land.
Tesco has agreed that it is their duty to stop people using the traffic light system to enter the store.
All I can do is keep the pressure on the head of Tesco until the promised fence is in place.
