Calvin Williams, a teacher at Tenby's Greenhill School, recently had the opportunity to address delegates of the NASUWT, the UK's largest teachers' union, at their Annual National Conference, held this year at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay.
Mr. Williams, who is the president of NASUWT Cymru this year, spoke on the need for both local and national government bodies to continue to invest in education and in qualified teaching staff to deliver lessons to our young people.
Later, Mr. Williams was also given the honour of putting a question to Huw Lewis, the Welsh Education Minister, asking him how he would prevent his policies being misinterpreted by Estyn and the regional consortia.
Mr. Williams said that he was "both nervous and delighted to be able to speak to such a large number of fellow teachers in such a terrific venue" and that he hoped "that future governments would listen to, and value, the professionals who actually teach our local children on a day to day basis."
