SOME talented singers were invited to join the choir of St Mary Magdalene Church, Launceston, in singing a festival choral evensong recently.
James Wonnacott led the service and also acted as cantor in the Preces and Responses in G by Smith. The choir sang an arrangement of psalm 150 by Stanford. The canticles were sung to music by John Ireland in F.
Sharron Wormald read the lessons and the anthem, “From all that dwell below the skies” by Walmisley was new to St Mary’s choir.
Dr Sean Sweeney conducted the choir which was accompanied by guest organist Josh Hughes who later played Mozart’s Fantasia in F minor as a recessional.
