Bridgerule’s monthly tabletop sale had an extra ‘buzz’ about it on June 3, when local man Ian Moyle had his head and very bushy beard shaved off to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

With his fiancée Fran in charge of the clippers, Ian took to the stage at Bridgerule Village Hall and off came his hair and the beard which he had spent the previous five months cultivating.

The Big Shave raised £1,863 for Cancer Research, with £1,000 of that being very generously donated by Chris Heard of Pendeen. Members of the local Cancer Research UK Bude and Stratton fundraising committee were delighted to attend the shave-off itself and to subsequently welcome Ian to their next committee meeting, where the big cheque was most gratefully received on behalf of Cancer Research UK.
