It was a swimmer's lucky day last Thursday, when he got into trouble training off Saundersfoot beach. A passing rowing boat from Wiseman's Bridge Rowing Club spotted him with a companion who explained that he was exhausted and was unable to make it back.

The rowing club had two boats out for their club night training session. However, their second boat was already retrieving a dinghy which had broken its tether and drifted away onto the rocks off Monkstone.

Luckily for the swimmer, the rowing club had been trained in man overboard retrieval by the RNLI in Tenby and executed the manoeuvre swiftly and effortlessly to return the swimmer safely to shore.

Wiseman's rower Nick Ryan, who was training the Junior team at the time, said he had found the man overboard training invaluable and they were hoping to repeat the training course again in the near future for new members, as you just never know when this knowledge will come in handy and potentially save someone's life.
