As Mayor of Pembroke Dock, Clr. Peter Kraus has been asking everyone if they knew of anyone who would be celebrating important birthdays during his time in office, so he can make a special visit to them on their important day,

Said Clr. Kraus: "This week that happened and I made a surprise visit to Wellington Street, Pembroke Dock. I went to meet a lovely lady who was 100 on Tuesday, July 14. Her name was Mrs. Dorothy Louisa Mathias."

Mrs. Mathias was born in Front Street and then moved to 33 Wellington Street 70 years ago, so she is definitely a local.

Continued Clr. Kraus: "She was a pleasure to be with and talk to about the last 100 years. She was given a surprise party at the Pater Hall, which was a huge success. Over 100 guests attended and she met people who she had not seen for many years, plus some members of her family who came home from far afield just to be with her and celebrate big time.

"I have never seen so many flowers and birthday cards, We tried to work out how many great-grandchildren and grandchildren there were and lost count, so there are lots!

"Mrs. Mathias is also a member of the Bethel Chapel, Pembroke Dock.

"All I have left to say is it was an absolute pleasure to meet Dorothy and her lovely family and I wish Dorothy many more years of health and happiness. Have a lovely year."
