THE St John Ambulance Hall in Camelford has been forced to close due to dwindling volunteers.

The hall, which is on Clease Road, has hosted various events and organisations over the years, including bingo.

Roy and Joan Starling, organisers of the weekly bingo event, have been running the club for at least eight years in Camelford.

They were shocked when they received a letter stating the hall was to close, which meant another location had to be found swiftly.

Roy said: "St John's pulled the plug without any notice, but we had heard rumblings of its closure."

After receiving mixed messages from St John Ambulance, Roy and Joan were officially informed of the hall closure just under a week before their bingo night.
