MORE than 400 children took part in the North Cornwall Primary School Games hosted by Budehaven Community School. The event was opened by Year 13 pupil Sam Fanson, who recently ran in the London Marathon and raised over £3,000 for his chosen charity, Bliss, which helps premature babies. The weather was sunny and the opening parade around the Astro was a spectacle with the participating 16 primary schools walking with flags, following Budehaven's tiger mascot. The Year 5 and 6 badminton tournament was won by Jacobstow Primary School and the Year 3 and 4 badminton skills competition was won by Wadebridge Primary. On the playground the basketball competition was won by Padstow Primary School while in the tennis and netball centre the Year 3 and 4 tennis was won by Wadebridge Primary.
