Sixth Form students at Launceston College have once again achieved outstanding A level success this year with 84% of those seeking to go to university gaining a place at their first choice and 25% achieving places at prestigious Russell Group universities.

Principal Jenn Burn said “I am absolutely delighted with the results the Sixth Form students have achieved this year. The grades our students have achieved have been well earned and reflect their hard work, effort and commitment to their studies. We wish them the very best as they move forward in life to study at some of the world’s first-class universities or to take the first steps in some exciting career opportunities.” 

Edward Lancaster secured a place to read mathematics at Cambridge University with an impressive collection of 3 A*s in maths, further maths and physics and an A grade in chemistry. Rohan Meergans achieved 2 A*s in maths and further maths and an A grade in physics, and is now looking forward to studying civil engineering at the University of Bristol. Archie Dinnis is looking forward to the challenges of a career in dentistry after achieving an A* in geography and two A grades in biology and chemistry, whilst Poppy Martin-Williams is excited to have achieved her offer to study medicine at Cardiff University with 3 A grades in maths, biology and chemistry and an A* in her Extended Project Qualification. Ben Hampton also achieved 3 A grades in DT, geography and biology to secure a place to read ecology at York University.

Other high attaining students included Grace Phippard who has secured a place at Exeter University to study Psychology, Jowna Strike who has secured a place at Bath University to study architecture, and Ellie Clements who has secured a degree apprenticeship in business management with Red Carnation Hotels.

I am very proud of them all, and once again Launceston College students have demonstrated that they can compete with the very best, having secured some fantastic opportunities at top universities or on exciting apprenticeship and employment pathways.

I would like to give recognition to the parents, carers and families for the help and support that they have given the students over the last two years.
