STRATTON Bowling Club has recently presented a cheque for £850 to North Devon Hospice, following a year of fundraising.

Daphne Claydon and Peter Westlake from Stratton Bowling Club presented Ali Hunt, head of fundraising of North Devon Hospice, with a cheque for £850.

Daphne and Peter are the ladies’ and men’s captains at the club, and both chose North Devon Hospice as their nominated charity, on account of the great work that takes place in the local area due to The Long House in Holsworthy.

The Long House is the hospice’s outreach centre in the town, which provides care and support for those affected by cancer or a life limiting illness, as well as offering support for the families who are also deeply affected.

Since opening in 2015, the team at The Long House has been able to provide more than 1,200 sessions of care to people in the immediate area.

The club has been fundraising throughout the previous year, and the £850 raised is expected to make a big difference to those being cared for in the area.
