Sir, I write to highlight the abundance of stones, pebbles and in some cases boulders being deposited on local beaches. My wife and myself have been living during the summer months in our caravan at Broadmoor. We regularly walk the beaches at Amroth, Saundersfoot and Tenby as our only form of exercise. We have noticed over the years that nearly every high tide there is an additional deposit of unsightly and untidy stones at the beaches we visit. No one, apart from us and a few other locals, remove the stones to a point above high tide. The deposit of stones is making 'our' beaches unsightly and not very welcoming to visitors. We believe that local councils should combine as a unit in order to remove these stones. A beach tractor and a gathering mechanism could be shared by the towns and the beaches scarified regularly, with the stones being deposited above high tide mark or even sold to local building firms. This would return the beaches to the soft sandy areas that all families with youngsters enjoy and it would encourage even more visitors to the beaches.
