Staff at Windmill Hill Academy in Launceston were very eager to arrive to school on Monday morning, April 17 (National Offer Day) to find out who was on their finalised list.
Mrs Bassett, head of school, and Miss Jones, Year F Class Teacher, then spent their day delivering new starter packs to those who would be starting school at Windmill Hill Academy in September. The new starter packs included their own bookbag, water bottle, key ring and personalised story book based on the school. The book can be used to support establishing school routines as well as getting to know some familiar faces – it even includes the school dog, Bertie!
Mrs Bassett commented, “It was wonderful to meet our new families and see the excitement on the children’s faces. We look forward to them becoming part of our school community.”
The school prides itself on the transition arrangements put into place and looks forwards to sharing the next steps with the parents. This will include stay and play sessions, a parents’ meeting and a school/home visit – all before they even start in September.
There are still some spaces remaining in Year F Class for September, as well as a few other classes, so please enquire if you are interested.
