CHILDREN at St Teath Primary School are celebrating the achievement of a goal they set themselves 12 months ago.
The school has been busy fundraising to support their partner school in Okwira, Uganda. The 1,500 or so children at Okwira Primary School currently have to walk several kilometres from their school grounds to fetch water to help with the day to day activities at school.
On average children miss 20 per cent of their curriculum time to fetch water. As well as this being tough enough there have been many occasions when the children have been threatened or had their water stolen as they travelled back to school.
