CHRISTMAS spirit has been all around at a school in Launceston as students got stuck in with a variety of festive activities.

Students at St Stephen’s Community Academy in Launceston have been getting festive in the last few weeks with a variety of seasonal events and activities.

It was kickstarted as the school’s house captains transformed the school Christmas tree, graciously donated by Arborcure, into a sparkling centre point.

Then, the magic hit the streets of Launceston as St Stephen’s sensational samba band filled the air with vibrant rhythms during the Lighting-Up ceremony—an unforgettable moment of festive community joy.

The excitement continued as we set to work decorating three Christmas trees which were displayed at St. Mary Magdalen’s Church community tree festival.

Year Six pupils were then treated to an early Christmas adventure at Launceston College, joining over 300 local children in a snow-filled wonderland. They met reindeer, hung out with cartoon characters, and enjoyed a magical performance of The Snow Queen’s Tears, a stunning production created and performed by Year 7 and 8 students.

Early Years, KS1, and Area Resource Base students also got in on the festive action, dazzling the audience with their heart-warming ‘Christmas Show,’ performed over two days to a packed hall of parents and friends. Meanwhile, KS2 children brought the spirit of Christmas to life in a beautifully emotional carol service at St. Stephens Church this week, filling the church to the brim with holiday cheer. Add to this the magic of a real-life snow day, a PTFA Christmas Craft evening, the whole-school Christmas lunch, party entertainment from Magic Martin and Christmas jumper day.

Maura Furber, headteacher at the school said: “In school this week the children said that Christmas was special because of the gifts you give to others and time together with family and people they love. We couldn't agree more!”
