ALL was a success at the recent St Giles on the Heath Christmas fair, held recently.
Organiser, Pauline Hicks, was pleased with how the event went, which raised money for an important local cause, the Devon Air Ambulance.
She said: “Lots of people came in and out, and yeah, so far it’s all been going really well. We also have another Christmas fair in December, and then we hand over the money to the charity in February, because we have another fair in January.”
The committee behind the fairs and raffles have raised £249 for the air ambulance so far, with more promised to land its way into a handsome total amount to be presented to representatives from the Devon Air Ambulance.
These fundraising events have been held for over three years now, and the community is always keen to support the event and the cause.
Speaking about the choice of the Devon Air Ambulance as a charity to support, Pauline said: “You just never know when you’ll need them. Lots of people around here do support the Devon Air Ambulance. We also do a raffle for them too, which raises more money, on the first Friday of the month.
“All the customers that came along, a huge thank you! They’re the reason this is still going. All the stallholders have been great throughout the year. The Devon Air Ambulance is, I suppose, a local charity, and it’s a nice charity to support, I think. Theresa and her mum helped with the teas in the kitchen, so we all muck in.”
