St Breward Jubilee Luncheon Club has been presented with a cheque for £2,000 towards the erection of a war
memorial in St Breward. The Luncheon Club applied to Cornwall
Community Foundation (CCF) for a 'Grassroots' grant to help the local fundraising. The photograph shows the cheque being presented at De Lank Quarry, the stone stands 8ft high, and 3ft wide and 2ft deep and is now ready to have the names inscribed. Many Luncheon Club members recall men from the village going away to join the Armed Forces during the
Second World War and the erection of a War Memorial in the village is seen as a fitting reminder of the debt owed by the village to these men and also those from the First World War who did not return to the village.
