A PLAN for a solar park at Awre that would consist of 185,000 panels and has been submitted to the Forest of Dean Council.
The project has been put together by a company called Awre Peninsular Farmers' Community Solar Ltd.
If planning permission is granted around 185,000 ground level solar panels would sited at Guy Hall Farm on approximately 80 per cent of a 250 acre site.
The council is being asked to grant permission for the solar park for 25 years after which, the applicants say, the ground would be restored to its current condition.
In a 240-page environmental statement prepared by rural property advisors Smith Gore, it is stated the land around the panels would be maintained by grazing sheep.
The panels, which would be capable of producing nearly 50 megawatts of electricity, would be mounted on fixed aluminium poles.
There are currently three objections to the plans registered by residents with the council.
There are concerns about the impact on the Severn Vale with a claim it would be "a total disaster" for Awre.
The plans are available on the Forest of Dean District Council's website, http://www.fdean.gov.uk">www.fdean.gov.uk and the reference number is P0664/15/FUL.
