FIRE CREWS from Bodmin Community Fire Station have described the moment they were called to a less than conventional rescue - involving a sheep wedged in a hole at a Bodmin Moor beauty spot.
They were called to reports that a sheep had been trapped at Roughtor, and have given details on how they managed to pinpoint the stricken animal.
Using strategically placed rendezvous sign points, the caller was able to help the crews locate the animal.
It was saved successfully.
A spokesperson for Bodmin Community Fire Station said: "Orange watch have just returned from Roughtor having rescued a sheep wedged in a hole.
"A vast area to pinpoint the exact location however the caller used information located on our strategically placed plaques / boulders to ensure a rendezvous point was established. The sheep was unhurt and successfully reunited with its flock.Thank you to the caller and her dog for locating the sheep and also to Group Manager Andi Sleeman and Julie (Livestock welfare officer) for attending and assisting us with the rescue.
