WINNERS of Devon's top conservation prize came together on Wednesday, September 21 at an official awards ceremony organised by Devon Conservation Forum and UNISON Devon County Branch.

Pupils and teachers from Shebbear Community School joined members of the Tiverton Civic Society at Devon County Council's Chamber Lobby, to celebrate their success in this year's John Mejor Award, which celebrates outstanding contributions to the conservation of Devon's natural and built environment.

The awards are sponsored jointly by Devon Conservation Forum and UNISON Devon County Branch and commemorate John Mejor's 12 years as the first Secretary of the Forum.

Shebbear Community School won the school/youth category for their bee-friendly garden designed to help increase the bee population which is currently under threat of extinction. They received a plaque, certificate and cash prize.
