THE Scouts are doing their bit to reduce dog waste on the streets of Holsworthy by installing homemade bag dispensers around the town.
The installation of the dispensers has not only helped reduce dog waste in the streets but counted towards the Scout’s ‘Community Impact’ badge.
1st Holsworthy Scout group leader Pauline Masters told the Post: “As part of the Scouts’ Community Impact badge, 1st Holsworthy Scout group recently made dog poo bag dispensers from empty plastic bottles and situated them at known dog walking areas around the town, to remind dog walkers to pick up their mess and help keep our town clean and tidy.”
This is an ongoing project and the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will be checking the dispensers as often as possible and refilling them as necessary.
The dispensers were placed along the cycle track over the viaduct, at each entrance to Stanhope park, and near any other grassy areas around the town centre.
