Simon Rawlinson, an assistant Beaver Scout leader, who was present on the day, said: “It was slightly chaotic, but good fun. This year, we tried to do something different to what we’ve done before, as it is an annual event. It turned out to be a really good day.”
This year saw a reenactment of St George and the Dragon, with one of the assistant leaders creating a moveable dragon’s head. This made the children taking part more interactive, enabling them to explore the famous story in a creative, fun and imaginative way.
Following this, the group renewed their promises, and then the presentation awards took place, with awards for the Chief Scout, as well as Gold, Silver and Bronze awards for the Scouts, Cubs and Beavers.
After this, a camp fire was made up, and the group sang songs.
Around 300 people got involved in this year’s St George’s Day parade, with parents, police officers and the Mayor of Camelford, Cllr Rob Rotchell, supporting the event, as well as the children and leaders.
