ON FRIDAY, June 15, St Stephens Community Academy in Launceston hosted a sponsored mile to raise money for Sarcoma UK.

The PTFA organised the event to support their treasurer, school governor and parent, Gareth Lancaster, who has also been raising money for the charity after he was diagnosed with chondrosarcoma last year.

The event was attended by special guests, the mayor of Launceston Margaret Young and the Plymouth Argyle mascot Pilgrim Pete. The children and families worked extremely hard to get sponsorship for the event and raised a fantastic amount of £1,668.53.

A spokesperson from the school said: “A big thank you to anyone who sponsored the children to complete their mile.”
