ESSENTIAL resurfacing work on the A3072 at Holsworthy has been delayed due to recent poor weather.
Daytime road closures were due to start on Monday, June 17, but were then postponed until later in the week.
The road will now be closed between Anvil Corner and Waterloo Road for resurfacing on June 20, 21 and 24. Waterloo Road and Coles Mill will be closed between June 25 and 26.
The road closures will be during the daytime from 7.30am, reopening no later than 5pm each day.
No vehicles will be able to park on the road during the work. Access for pedestrians and emergency services will be maintained. For all other vehicles a recommended diversion route in both directions using roads of equal category will be signed, although motorists with good local knowledge may use minor roads to work their way around the closure and short cut the diversions.
The official signed diversion route for all vehicles less than 12ft high will be in place via Anvil Corner to Holsworthy Beacon to Holsworthy and vice versa. For vehicles more than 12ft in height the diversion is via Holsworthy, Whimble Cross to Anvil Corner and vice versa.
Access to residential properties and businesses within the closure will be able to have vehicular access to their properties by liaising with the site foreman, although there may be a short delay until it is safe to pass. Pedestrian access will be available throughout the work.
The scheme is being carried out by contractor Skanska.UPDATE:The A3072 at Holsworthy will be closed between Waterloo Road and Coles Mill Bridge for an extra day on Friday, June 28, from 7.30am, reopening no later than 5pm, to allow essential resurfacing work to be completed. The road was due to reopen on Thursday, June 27, but the schedule has been set back due to the breakdown of an essential piece of plant machinery.
