NATHAN Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen in Port Isaac hosted a special lunch for the village’s RNLI volunteers recently in support of the charity’s Fish Supper campaign.

It’s not unusual for RNLI crew to be called away at a moment’s notice, leaving loved ones at the dinner table whilst they rush to save lives at sea.

So to recognise the crew’s dedication and the many meals they’ve missed over the years, the RNLI is asking supporters to host their own fish supper event this October to help raise money for the charity.

Nathan Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen is already a strong supporter of the lifesaving charity and showed their further support by inviting the crew of Port Isaac RNLI in for a fish supper lunch.

A total of 10 volunteer crew members enjoyed a selection of fish dishes.

Throughout October the restaurant will also be doubling the normal contribution it gives to the charity, adding a discretionary £2 donation to each bill.

Megan Rees, Fish Kitchen restaurant manager, said: “We have supported Port Isaac RNLI from the day we opened as we know just how important they are. With the restaurant next door to the lifeboat station we see their selflessness and courage each time they answer a shout, and we’re honoured that we can play just a small part in supporting them.”

The charity is inviting seasoned chefs and amateurs alike to dish up the fish for their friends and family in a fun themed evening. The event raises awareness of RNLI volunteer crew members who sacrifice time with their family and friends to help those in trouble at sea.

All proceeds from Fish Supper will help provide the best equipment and training for RNLI volunteers.

The importance of togetherness and team spirit is at the heart of the RNLI and is what makes the charity and its volunteers so special. In 2014, RNLI lifeboats launched on 8,462 services around the UK and Ireland, rescued 8,727 people and saved 368 lives.

The RNLI asks that all Fish Supper donations are received by November 7.
