Sir, As chair of governors at Ysgol Greenhill School, I was surprised and disappointed at the article in last week's Tenby Observer relating to our head teacher. Mrs. Kingston had submitted a letter of resignation to me just before Easter. I immediately rejected the proposal and I was supported by every school governor I spoke to. We all agree that Mrs. Kingston is the right person to manage change at Greenhill and she has our full support. We are in the middle of a staff restructuring programme which governors have been eager to see implemented. Understandably staff are concerned at changes in their circumstances, we are also expecting a follow up visit by Estyn in the autumn term to review our progress following their inspection last year. Governors have realised that they have a role in communication at Greenhill throughout this process, as such we have initiated a 'listening to staff' programme. At last week's meeting held on May 12, governors confirmed to a large number of staff that Mrs. Kingston had now withdrawn her resignation. I am saddened that Mrs. Kingston's resignation letter seems to have been provided to the Tenby Observer following that meeting. Phil Baker, Chair of Governors, Ysgol Greenhill School.
