The Met Office has now upgraded the Storm Eunice weather warning to RED ALERT for parts of Cornwall, Devon, and South Wales.

The rare red weather warning will affect parts of the UK particularly in the South-West and South Wales tomorrow (Friday, February 18). The warning is at its highest level meaning there is a danger to life.

The Met Office has forecast winds of up to 90mph which is predicted to cause major disruption such as damage to homes, train cancellations and power cuts.

The red warning is in place from 7am until noon on Friday.

Residents are being urged to stay at home and on travel if “absolutely necessary”. Cornwall Council warned the worst winds are set to coincide with high spring tides along the coastline at about 6am, leading to possible flooding.
