BIKERS are risking 'a tragic accident' from quicksand and landslides while trespassing at a defunct quarry in Kingsteignton, according to police.
The Kingsteignton Neighbourhood Policing Team warns trespassers will be prosecuted if found at the former quarry site on Lord Clifford's Ugbrooke Estate, next to the Old Roman Road.
The team recently met Lord Clifford's son, The Hon Alexander Clifford, who warned them about the dangers.
PCSO Anthony Wilson said: 'He told us the area is rife with quicksand and unstable back fill, and brought to our attention the extreme dangers people are putting themselves in by trespassing on to the land. And if an accident were to occur there access to an injured party would be highly problematic and could endanger life.'
