WE are fed up with people complaining about the nuisance value of the sheep and boar in the Forest.

The sheep are no trouble to us, the good thing about them is that they do slow down some traffic.

We have been walking and, more, recently cycling in the beautiful Forest since we came here to live nine years ago, having had holidays here since 1971.

The boar have never attacked us or been any bother to us, though they do make a mess of some places and ruin things like sports fields.

There should be a cull. The deer are culled so why not the boar?

For us it is the dogs who are a problem.

If only people could keep them on a lead or under control and away from other people.

Why is the assumption that you like the dogs as much as they do?

From some people that you ask why the dogs are not on a lead, you get verbal abuse. Some people come at you with their dogs on leads but you can see that the dogs are in control, the owners shout that they will not hurt you.

Do they really believe that?

If you question it, again you get the abuse.

Last year we were cycling near Cinderford and a dog caused me to fall off, its owner said nothing and ignored me.

Another time on my bike when struggling up a hill an owner took no notice when I asked them to keep their dog away but they ignored me and it caused me to dismount – I find it difficult to get going on a hill.

Where we live we and our neighbours have to listen to dogs barking all day. We didn't come here to live in a kennels.

Keep the sheep, deer and some boar but please keep the dogs under control!

Please do not put my name and address in the paper as there will be yet more abuse.
