PREMIER Foods, which owns the Ambrosia Creamery in Lifton, were the proud recipient on Tuesday night, of the coveted ‘President’s Cup’ at the Institute of Grocery Distribution’s (IGD) annual awards ceremony at the Park Plaza Hotel in Westminster recently.
The award, which was presented to Premier Foods CEO, Gavin Darby, by IGD president, Andy Clarke, was in recognition of the significant overall contribution Premier Foods has made to IGD’s various groups and charitable activities including the Feeding Britain’s Future programme supporting young people in the skills they need to find employment.
The company also plays a major part in IGD’s healthy eating programme and co-chairs the Technical Leaders Forum as well as supporting a range of other IGD initiatives.
Mr Darby said: “We’re incredibly proud to have been recognised for our contribution. IGD plays a very important role in fostering collaboration amongst the food and grocery industry and helping to develop people working in, or looking to join, the industry. We’re fully committed to playing a leading role in supporting the charity’s valuable work.”
This year alone, Premier Foods plans to support up to 60 schools visits as part of IGD’s Feeding Britain’s Future programme and are a key supporter of its pilot Jobathon programme, working in partnership with Job Centre Plus to offer skills training to the young unemployed.
The awards were hosted by journalist and broadcaster Fiona Bruce.
