THE Post travelled to the Land of the Rising Sun recently The newspaper was used in an adult English class in Suzaka City, Nagano, Japan, as part of an effort to increase interest in learning English through the use of authentic study materials. Each pair of students was given a two-page spread, asked to identify common aspects of newspapers, then asked to try to guess the kind of community that the Post serves by the type of its content. Finally, students were asked to choose an article or piece of advertising to present to the rest of the class. One pair was particularly interested in the Charles Causley Festival attended by Liberal Democrat North Cornwall MP Dan Rogerson and town crier Rob Tremain, while another pair was rather taken by the idea of a visit to Trago Mills! For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
