HALWILL held another successful Primary School Football Tournament, which ran for four weeks from September 15 to October 6. Initially started by Nyree Powell and Shirley Jones five years ago, it has been carried on by other parents of Halwill school. Halwill Primary School entered five teams this year — three boys and two girls teams. Other schools participating were Ashwater, Black Torrington, Boasley, Holsworthy, Lewtrenchard, Pyworthy and Shebbear. The organisers have extended their thanks to the referees — Alan and Shaun Knight, Connor Edworthy, Mike Doidge, Mac Powell and Andrew Winser — who gave up their time. They have also extended their thanks to Andrew and Geoff Moores and Robbie Holland for coaching the Halwill children.
