He then went on to ask for a hug before the attack took place. Officers say he touched her 'inappropriately'.

The victim pushed the attacker away and was able to leave the scene unhurt. CCTV footage has been released taken in the road at the time which was about 4.35pm.

The woman was wearing shorts and an orange knitted top. Her attacker is described as being white, in his late 20s or early 30s and about 5ft 9ins tall.

He was of medium build with long, wavy blond hair and was wearing a black T-shirt. Investigating officers are hoping there may have been witnesses to the attack as it happened while the town was crowded with people attending the My Fancy Year end party on the Den.
