THE police carried out speed monitoring in various locations in Holsworthy town on Saturday, May 21, in order to reduce the number of offending vehicles.

There were a few incidences where speeding motorists were stopped by the police and were dealt with by officers by way of a ticket.

Some were given words of advice instead of a ticket with the hope that it will encourage those offenders to rethink the way they drive and slow down.

During the process they also stopped an uninsured vehicle, which was identified and taken off of the road.

The Holsworthy police wrote a reminder to all drivers traveling through Holsworthy town and the surrounding area on their Facebook page, they said: ‘Please remember that speed limits are there for a reason, take care on our roads.’

Many residents responded to the post on the Holsworthy Neighbourhood Police Team’s Facebook page with suggestions of where the police team should monitor in the future.

One resident wrote: “Please can you do anything about the speed at which many vehicles come through Chilsworthy village? The main culprits seem to be commercial vehicles.”

The Holsworthy team responded assuring that speed checks had been carried out and that results had come back as ‘average’ at that time, however, they have said they will follow up the situation by carrying out more monitoring of the area.
