A 43-year-old Bristol man has died following a collision between his bike and a bus near Usk on Wednesday afternoon.
The man died at the scene of the incident, on Monmouth Road in Gwehelog, which involved the biker and a Newport bus service vehicle.
Two passengers were on the bus at the time of the incident, but were not injured.
A fire engine from Usk and other other emergency vehicles and rapid response vehicles attended the scene and it is understood that the road was closed until late on Wednesday evening.
A Newport Bus spokesman confirmed that one of its vehicles had been involved in a road traffic accident said the company was assisting the police with their enquiries.
The man has not yet been named and his family is being supported by police liaison officers.
The incident has led to renewed calls from local people for the speed limit on the dangerous road to be reduced from its current 60mph
