Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision on the B4224 in Hampton Bishop, Hereford shortly after midnight on Wednesday, July 8th.
The collision involved a Alfa Romeo Saloon and a Grey Mercedes Saloon. The driver of the Alfa Romeo was travelling towards Hampton Bishop from Hereford when she encountered livestock in the road. A collision occurred between the Alfa Romeo and one of the cows, causing the driver to move to the other side of the road, where she was in collision with the Mercedes, travelling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the Alfa Romeo sustained serious head injuries, and she was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham. The cow was severely injured, and was humanely put down by a vet at the scene. The driver of the Mercedes was uninjured.
The road was closed for a number of hours.
West Mercia Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have seen either vehicle beforehand to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 4 of 8th June.
