PLUMBING students at Gloucestershire College in Mitcheldean have marked their move to the Five Acres campus with bespoke garden furniture.
The Level One Plumbing Diploma students made the table and chair out of copper and gave it to the art department, where they will be based, as a 'thank you' for accommodating them. The art students will move to new studio spaces currently being used by beauty therapy.
The college announced the relocation of the construction and building services courses at the end of February.
Student Dalton Jones, 21, from Lydney said: "As a group we decided to make a copper garden furniture set to mark our move to Five Acres campus. We planned everything out on paper before making the frame for the chairs in 15mm and 22mm copper. Everyone in the group had their own part in the project; it was a good experience because it helped me learn and improve my existing plumbing skills in measuring, bending and working with copper."
Plumbing lecturer, John Maloney added: "We're all looking forward to the move to Five Acres. It can only benefit our students currently based in Mitcheldean as they will be integrated into the wider college community and enjoy better facilities and ultimately a more rounded experience, not forgetting it's much easier for most to travel to Five Acres than the Mitcheldean site."
