A PEDESTRIAN was injured in a road accident involving two cars on the Hereford by-pass outside Abergavenny on Tuesday reports PAUL JAMES.
It's understood the casualty was operating a temporary 'stop go' traffic sign when the collision happened just before 10am.
Numerous police patrol vehicles attended the incident as did the air ambulance and a pair of rapid response vehicles and land ambulances.
The pedestrian, who has not been named, suffered fractured ribs and a broken wrist in the incident.
His injuries were not said to be life-threatening.
He was taken by land ambulance to Nevill Hall Hospital for treatment.
The cars involved were a black Toyota Land Cruiser and a red Ford Fiesta.
The woman driver of the Toyota was also taken to hospital as a precaution.
A police spokeswoman said the road was closed for more than two hours while the emergency services dealt with the incident. It re-opened at 12.20pm.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the accident to contact them on 101, quoting log 106 of May 26.
Abergavenny's outgoing Mayor, Councillor Martin Hickman, witnessed the aftermath of the accident.
He said, "It was a very quick and strong response from the emergency services. There were so many vehicles that I thought it was quite serious. I'm relieved to hear that no one was too badly hurt."
