A PEDESTRIAN has been killed while walking on the A380 in Newton Abbot.

Police were called to the scene near the junction with Aller Brake Road at 1.30am on Saturday.

Officers found a man, thought to be in his thirties, who they believe was the victim of a collision with a vehicle.

Shortly beforehand reports had been received of a man walking in the road towards Kingskerswell.

The road was closed in both directions for almost eight hours while the force's serious collision investigation unit carried out an investigation.

Police have appealed for information from the public and in particular would like to hear from anyone who either witnessed the incident or saw the man prior to it.
