PARENTS of children at Stratton Primary School have completed a five-week Family Learning computer-programming course based on Scratch. Family Learning realised this was a new area for parents to become familiar with and responded by designing a special course for them. As a result the parents are now better equipped to help their children at home as well as improving their own personal skills. Recent changes to the curriculum mean all schools will have to be teaching some basic computer programming and coding skills to primary age children in the autumn. Scratch is a useful programme to do this with, and although 'coding' sounds a little scary, learners found it is great fun in reality.
