BRINGING the sunshine with her on the opening day of the new season at Petersfield open-air swimming pool on Saturday was three-time Olympic swimmer Kathy Read.

Kathy, a former champion British backstroke swimmer who competed in Los Angeles, Seoul and Barcelona, cut the ribbon to herald the start of the new season at the popular leisure facility at Tor Way.

She then took to the water to give a a graceful display of the backstroke for which she is famed.
