Sir, I write regarding your edition of June 12 where a report of Saundersfoot Community Council included the following sentence apparently taken from a letter to the council from Saundersfoot Community Forum which raised several matters: "Concerns were raised by the forum about the Regency Car Park and the car park for The Mulberry which the forum described as a 'grubby lane.'" As author of the letter, on behalf of the forum, I can say that phrase was not what I wrote, nor was there any intention to imply that the Mulberry Restaurant was in any way responsible for any poor impression given to visitors. I can confirm the actual words are: "This year the capacity of the Harbour Park is diminished and The Tourist Information Centre is now based in the Regency Hall, thereby attracting visitors from the other parking areas in addition to those parking in the PCNPA car park itself. Therefore for many visitors the first experience of Saundersfoot is either arriving in the 'Regency' car park or accessing it from elsewhere. This is poorly surfaced, and in winter very poorly lit when it is very easy to walk into a puddle of water. The access routes are either past the aforementioned public toilets, or down the grubby lane by the side of the Mulberry and past the Sands car park. I think everyone agrees it does not show Saundersfoot at its best! What can be done?" The Mulberry car park was not referred to and I apologise if the misquoting of my letter has caused offence to the management of the excellent Mulberry Restaurant. I have also copied this letter to the clerk of the council to be raised at their next meeting.
